Whitney Plantation Tour – A Journey Into Untold History
Travel in comfort aboard our luxury-style vehicles to the historic Whitney Plantation, the only plantation museum in Louisiana dedicated to telling the story of slavery. Your tour begins with a courtesy call from your driver before pickup, followed by a warm greeting at your door. As you travel to Wallace, Louisiana, listen to New Orleans jazz and hear fascinating facts about the region from your driver.
Upon arrival, your driver will handle check-in and share helpful information about your visit. Your self-guided experience begins on the grounds of what was once the “Habitation Haydel,” home to the Haydel family of German immigrants and the enslaved people whose lives were intertwined with theirs. Opened to the public in 2014, Whitney Plantation offers a deeply moving perspective through museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings, and hundreds of first-person slave narratives.
You’ll have approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to explore the grounds and museum, plus extra time to browse and take a break before returning to New Orleans.
